ScanTech 2008 ran in Brisbane on 18-19 June and again in Rotorua on 24-25 June 2008. ScanTech 2008 provided the most comprehensive line-up of leading scanning and sawmill optimisation technology providers yet seen in Australia or New Zealand. Companies involved in the programmes read like a “who’s who” of the very latest in wood scanning innovation and development. Major technology providers from Germany, Sweden, Italy, the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand were involved in the two-yearly technology update. Close to 200 delegates from Australasian sawmilling companies attended the 2008 series.
Included in the 2008 series were details on the very latest in advances in log merchandising and edger and trimmer optimisation, updates on true shape scanning, designing and integrating sophisticated breakdown equipment in the mill, developments in commercializing X-ray and CT internal log scanning, acoustic tools for measuring strength and stiffness, ultra-sound scanning for determining internal log checking and optimization software to determine the best value solution for processing each log.
Written feedback from delegates and sponsors is being reviewed. Based on feedback to the 2008 series, another wood scanning technology update will be organised for 2010. Further information including orders for ScanTech 2008 proceedings and photos from the Brisbane and Rotorua events can be viewed on the Post Event Details page of this site.
